I am getting some really bad noise/artifacts just before scene changes (many, but not all) when encoding a DVD complient MPEG2 file with TMPGEnc. The noise is 1 or 2 frames just before the scene switches; they are not around an object but randomly placed in the video (like if your digital cable or sat single got messed up and then recovered).
I am ripping with Smart Ripper and setting up a DVD2AVI project. I read that into TMPGEnc and set up everything I need and then run using the Highest motion settings (slowest encode). Is that a known reason why I might be getting this, or is maybe just something that I will have to live with?
Here is a quick list of settings that I have:
- 0/5500/9800 (2 Pass VBR bitrate settings - low/avg/high)
- Type A field order
- IVTC- Noise Reduction
- 3:2 pulldown
- Highest Quality (slowest speed)
Any help in refining my settings to remove these ugly gremlins would be greatly appreciated!
Hoag
