Gang,
I am having a challenge with this device. I installed card and drivers and well went fine.........EVENTUALLY!!!!!!!!! (after much trial and error and trial again). This device is truly very QUIRKY and hard to install on my Win 2k machine.
Anyway, when I connect my DishNetwork receiver to the card via s-video cable I get no picture. I can connect via regular cable connection, but WinTV 2000 tells me that the sound is mono and not stereo. My sound card is an Audigy 1394 super-pooper -producer-something. You know......the really good one![]()
What can I do connect with s-video and get stereo sound. Thanks.

Hauppage productions are junks.
Even if you can solved all software and drivers problems, you can only get the movie-files with small-size pixels, and... you can only burn with very poor-pictures. I still have one PVR-USB Hauppage at home for my antiques collection. I'm using now ADVC-100, and very happy with this production.

Installed my PVR-250 yesterday (on XP). Used the latest drivers/applications, zero problems. Captured cable-tv video at standard DV, burned to DVD - pretty much looks like watching the original. For highest quality I'd capture to AVI (not with this board of course) and software encode.
As a "toy" that will mainly be used to make compilations of cartoons on DVD's for my kids, it does the trick fast and easy.... -

Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin' -
Picked one up 7 or 8 months ago. Had used the AIW product prior. Was very happy with ATI but would not go back. Prefer the hardware encoding that the pvr-250 offers. If you can get it to work you will not be sorry. I'm obviously one of the lucky ones.
Total capitulatoion on my part. I advocated software mpeg encoding for a long time. I realized that this product delivered superior results with even an under powered machine. For $99 its the best hardware mpeg 2 encoder out there (in my humble opinion). -
Same Condition "MONO" reception vs. "STEREO".
I'm a current user of the Haupauge PVR-250. I just recently noticed within the last week, it too will no longer receive stereo using the COAX input.
But, if I switch my connections to my vcr to composite, all's well!!!
I too have the latest AUDIGY 2 Sound card w/ the 1394 port.
I don't know if a recent Windows update screwed something up? -

Now I have really screwed things up. I tried a clean-up and re-installation this past weekend. After re-installing the card, and booting up, I get the new hardware found message, but does not install the drivers and I get an error message that card not installed. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont which way to go now. Either (1) dumping card and getting something else or (2) dumping WM Payer or (3) dump both.
Any advice or help would be great right about now. Thanks.
