i am looking to make artifact free (or mostly artifact free) svcds from mini-dv footage that i capture and edit on pc. i use tmpgenc, which i really like, to convert my dv avis to mpeg2. i play my svcd on my pioneer dv343 dvd player. so i cant up the bit rate more than 2800 (well thats the highest i've tried so far, i know that 3500 and over is choppy). are there any tips someone can give me? i have tried "constant bitrate", "2pass vbr", and "constant quality". constant bitrate seems to yield the best results. under source settings i choose "interlace" and "4:3 525 line aspect ratio". and for output i also choose to "interlace". should one of these be set to "non-interlace"? thanks in advance.
