  1. OK... I asked this once before but never got an answer.

I have DV camcorder. I am tryin got capture, edit and encode to DVD. I figured out pretty much everything and tried different methods to get the best result.

My question is how do I capture DATE and TIME code that is displayed on the right bottom corner of the DV video. Since I am taping my baby's growth, it is necessary to document the date of the scene. I tried many programs but none of them could capture this info so I had to manually type them in each scene.

Do you know a program or a way to capture this info to editing programs?

    Thanks!!!

Actually you can on Mini DV you just need the right software. Vegas Video 4 will read the original date and time code off the tape and you can display it as a small time code window box on the screen. OR you could just add a simple title screen when you are editing your videos together.

Are you sure? I am not talking about "timecode" which displays minutes and seconds of movie. I want DATE when the scene was takedn like SEP 14' 01, 12:38 AM, not 00.00.00,09.

If you are sure, can you tell me where I can find it in Vegas?

Yup... that's what I've been doing but in order to do that, you have to make a note of dates for each scene. -> time consuming...

  7. Well I didn't solve the problem but found a good alternative. There is a handy program called SceneanalyzerLIVE. This capturing program captures video and name avi files according to the scene's date such as scene'20010914 00.41.20.avi. This scene was taken on the year 2001, September 14th at 12:41.20 AM.

It captures video in Tape1, 2, Studio DV, Canopus DV... etc. Only problem with it is in order to get the date, you have to choose to make an avi file for each scene. I just hope it can capture the DV tape in one file (which it does) and each scene has a note that can be viewed in Studio 8.

Anyway, this program is $33 and I am seriously considering to buy one.

OH... By the way, if this program can capture DATE information from DV tape, there is no reason that Ulead or Pinnacle cannot do it with their programs.
