I am looking for software (for mac) that I can use to capture my footage and give me the metadata (date) any ideas

I am looking for software (for mac) that I can use to capture my footage

iMovie6 for example (DL it on Apple web site)
(you'll find timecode in your iMovieProject)

and give me the metadata (date)
