  1. I was just wondering if anyone could remember the name of ANY of the following 3 thriller movies. I haven't seen any of them since I was a kid, but I was really trying to think of old school thrillers that I remember I liked and I remembered the names of all except for these 3.

    1) There is a guy who is lost in a town and ends up being chased by a 18 wheeler truck throughout the entire movie. The guy didn't do anything to instigate anything and that is what made the plot interesting. Anyway, I am pretty sure this one is a classic.

    2) The next is a movie I really do vaguely remember. The only thing that I do remember is a bunch of teenage kids are in a gang and another kid wants in but the gang says he has to sleep in a mausoleum for 1 night to be initiated into the gang. The only other thing I remember is one of the graves in the mausoleum starts to crack and weird things start to happen inside while this kid is locked in. Anyone remember the name of this one?

    3) Next...what I can remember about this one is that it was a movie I saw in the movie theater and it was uncharacteristic of a typical movie because there were like 4 or 5 seperate thriller plots and none of them had anything to do with the other. Just like Twilight Zone the Movie.

Anyway, one of the stories was there was a huge "RAT" or something under a house and it was killing things. That's all I remember about that particular story. Another story was a kid who was obsessed with a high score of a video game and could never get it. One night he snuck into an arcade and played the best game of his life. Next thing you know, none of his friends see him for a while and they get nervous. Then they go to the arcade and they see him INSIDE the video game! LOL...hopefully someone will remember this one.

    4) Lastly, there was a movie where this kid has some real strange parents and they keep wanting him to eat. After a while, he finds out that his parents are either alien or possessed..(i forget which) and they are serving him HUMAN BODY PARTS. He then tries to stop them.

Any info on any of these 4 movies will be appreciated. Hopefully at least 2 of them are on DVD too...that would be nice. 8)

#1 is Duel, directed by Steven Speilberg (1st film) and starring McCloud's Dennis Weaver. Early 70's.

#4 is Parents, starring Randy Quaid, directed by Bob Balaban (played the music teacher in Waiting For Guffman). Late 80's.

#3 sounds familiar, especially the videogame segment, but I can't remember it. Almost sounds like a "Tales from the Darkside" or "Dark Room"* compilation

(*anybody remember "Dark Room"? Twilight Zone style anthology horror show, hosted by James "In Like Flint" Coburn? The two episodes I remember best are one with a teenage Helen Hunt who falls in love with a guy, then starts to think he's a vampire, but it turns out he's not... he's a werewolf! The other was a couple, living off of Uncle Joe's pension, Uncle Joe dies, so they find a wino and invite him to "be" Uncle Joe so they can keep getting his pension checks. The kicker is that Uncle Joe worked for the railroad, and got a pension because he was in an accident... so they have to cut the wino's legs off!)

anyway, Duel and Parents are out on dvd, check www.dvdpricesearch.com for a good deal.

  7. @all...thanks alot! I'm ordering all of those movies. I'm pretty ashamed I forgot "DUEL"....especially because Spielberg directed it. @NY Player..thanks for that info...I thought it was a long shot getting that title of "NightMares"...man..if that isn't on DVD..I'll just settle for VHS. And then "Parents"..yea....that has to be it because it rings a bell. Thanks again everyone.

-The only movie noone took a shot on was "#2" which was where this kid had to sleep in that masoleum for 1 night to be initiated into a gang. As I mentioned..the only thing I remember was that scary things started to happen inside the masoleum and the kid couldn't get out. Then one of the stones started to crack and I think the person buried behind that particular spot was someone who had psychic powers and could move things with their mind. That's all I remember.

Anyone have any clue? Thanks again in advance...either way...3 outta 4 ain't bad.

    # 2 does sound like "one dark night " as the other poster said (also known as :
Dark Night (1983) (UK: video title)
    Entity Force (1983)
    Mausoleum (1983/II)
    Night in the Crypt (1983)
Night of Darkness (1983) (UK: video title)
    Rest in Peace (1983)

    - though it was a girls club and it was a girl in the crypt .. if it was guys you saw - the movie might have been "Frightmare"

  14. Man, all I can say is WOW! Once again, It goes to show the people on this site just DON'T PLAY!!! Now I have all FOUR of those movies answered. I've already checked 1, 2, & 4, and they are ALL AVAILABLE ON DVD! Now I have to check ONE DARK KNIGHT, A.K.A a dozen other names....none of which ring a bell like NightMares and Parents. BJ_M mentioned "frightmare"...I'll have to check into that one too...but maybe the girl was "butch" lol....kind of like the one from "SLEEPAWAY CAMP" or somethin....I haven't seen the movie since the year it came out so I guess that's about 20 years....

not too bad on the memory for 20 years ago....anyway, another poster mentioned "creepshow" and I know it can't be creepshow or creepshow 2 because that's on of my all-time favorite thrillers....next to Children of the Corn, of course.

Thanks again for the movie Guru's comin' through once again!

  15. Number 3 sounds like Stephen Kings Cat's Eye--

It has a few different stories in it, one is about a giant rat.
