    up until recently capture with firewire has worked fine for me, but for some reason now whenever i try and cature video it goes EXTREMELY jumpy, and is pretty much useless.
    does anyone know why this may be happening + how to rememdy the problem.

    Take the check out of the box labeled "jumpy/useless capture" in the preferences tab in your firewire card.

    Try defragmenting the HD and make sure you have no Anti-virus or other background apps running when you capture.
