  1. I followed the instructions exactly under the "How to convert to SVCD with TMPGEnc" section to convert a DIVX file to an SVCE. I did end up with a playable SVCD. It looks just fine on my PC but when I try to play it on my TV it's like the outer edge is chopped off. This is an anime digisub and whereas the subtitles are about 1/2" up when played on my monitor they are exactly along the bottom of the screen and slightly cut off left and right on the TV. The rest of the outer edge is clipped similarly. Any idea what this newbie is doing wrong? Information appreciated. In the meantime I'll keep searching and trying different encode settings.

    Thanks.

This question comes up a lot, but people who have to ask the question don't know what it's called so they can't do a search.... If you do a forum search on "overscan" you'll find more information than you ever wanted on the technical reasons and the ways to work around it.

  3. Ah. Very good. Thank you very much. A few searches with the right keywords (SVCD and overscan) and I'm pretty sure I see what I need to do.
