Hi,
I was just wondering if anybody bought a Pioneer DVD-R model AO4 or AO5 recently? I was wondering if it worked perfectly under OSX.2 and iDVD 3. Also if it runs well with DVD Studio pro 1.5
Was installation hard? and what are your general comments, ups and downs.
I was looking for a great DVD burner that will fit my needs before investing all that money.
Thankyou very much!
Kev

The Pioneer Dvdr 105 is the OEM drive with new macs. I think the A05 is the same model, right?
I have seen on macfixit many people very satisfied with the A05 internal as far as iTunes, iDvd and iMovie compatability.
I have a 105 and it works great with everything. Mine is in a LaCie case so I cannot use iDvd (must be an internal fo that), but everything else is good (studio pro 1.5 too).
To double check, see xlr8yourmac.com, they have an pretty good dvdr/cdr drive compatability section that may answer your questions.
As far as I know, dvd+r is not supported by OSX. This seems to vary from model to model though, some iMacs can read it, but none that I know of can burn it (if you find a way let me know).
Hope that helps

I added a Pioneer 105 (actually a Cendyne 105 - same thing) to my new G4 867dp when I got it and so far I have used it with OS 10.2.4 & 10.2.5. I have burned iMovie 2&3 movies using iDVD 2&3, made back-ups with DVD2one, and backed up data all with out any probs. The only coasters (3 out of 20+) were my fault. Installation is a piece of cake and I haven't seen a downside yet.

It works good, but i have noticed that in my computer it does seem to get very warm. (By the way, my computer originally shipped with a DVD-ROM drive and has a hardware decoder daughter card on my video card, my hardware based Apple DVD player still works in OS9, and the lastest software only player works fine in 10.2.X.)
