    i am new to this forum and new to creating VCDs, DVDs etc..

    i made my first VCD the other day and when i played it on my DVD player (which is VCD compatible) the picture was in black and white.

    could somebody please tell me what i have done wrong and how i can fix the problem, thanks

    Is your vcd pal or ntsc ?

    Do you connect the scart lead to SVHS 1 or 2, it doesent matter only you have to make sure the tv is showing the correct input i.e if you have connected to SVHS 1 then the channel should be vhs 1 if you are displaying AV channel instead then you will get a black and white picture (though this may only happen if you connect through a SVHS connector. This may sound like an obvious point but i think its worth making as my tv does this when i connect from my computer.

  9. I think the most likely cause is NTSC/PAL issues. I am not sure which country/system you use (I assume NTSC), so it may jyst be that the VCD was encoded for the other TV system. Check the VCD resolution by playing it is Media Player and selecting File Properties. Similarly you can use VirtualDub. If the resolution is 352x240 then it is NTSC. If it is 352x288 then it is PAL. This resolution should match the TV system you are using.
