  1. i have been struggling a little bit with this process. i am new to it and feel i understand the basics but i dont understand why i cant get the dvd to work in any player and i know they are dvd +r compatible. i used dvddecrypter then dvdtoolbox. then i have that all saved on my hard drive. if i go to play the movie off my harddrive now it works, just dont have any menus. guess u cant have it all with dvdtoolbox, cause the picture quality is great. so then i go to nero to burn it and i select dvd rom UDF/ISO drag over the file...which is both the audio (empty) and video which has the 2 IFO's 2BUP and the rest are the VOB movie. i burn it to a dvd +r and i go to play it and it doesnt work. On my comp. when i try to play it it says it wont work cause a its a disc with unsupported format. hopefully someone can help.....i am wasting DVDs like crazy

You never said what type of dvd set-top player you have.If it's a pioneer this could be ur problem as I've noticed several people saying that pioneers dont seem to like disks burned using nero.I also know this is a fact as my cousins doesn't like them,he uses and swears by RecordNow max.He reckons that they are far more compatible as well. Why don't you go out and buy a DVD+RW and use this to try out various methods which will suit you and your dvd player. At least you wont be making coasters anymore as if it doesn't work you just erase it and try a different approach. You will then hopefully get to the root of your problem.

it's got nothing to do with Nero

if it's not playing on your computer then something is seriously wrong with the DVD structure and you should never burnb anything like this, not even RecordNow Max will fix it

you need to supply more info starting from what you ripped and with what settings and what you did to the files after ripping

More info definately would be appreciated, but I can vouche for Nero burns not working well on Pioneer Set Tops.

I no always use Prassi Priomo DVD, with never an issue at all. Nero, I'd say 1 out of 30 worked.

Can you play your video_ts.ifo file from your software player on your hard drive without issue ? It works well ? All routing correct ?

In Nero, they'd burn out fine, however whenever you start a movie (title sequence) from the menu, it locked everytime.

If yours plays fine from the hard drive, investigate into RecordNow as said above, or Prassi.

  5. I burn with Nero and have a Pioneer DV-250 DVD set top player. Everything I have burned so far my Pioneer has played perfectly. I bought it for $88 at Wal-mart but I've seen the price has dropped to $78 recently.
