AVI (XviD encoded) to DVD?

Hey guys,

Here's my sitch. I have about 100 downloaded AVI movies and i recently got a Sony Vaio with a DVD burner. The problem i'm having is successfully converting these avi files to mpg2 format for DVD burning. At first glance it seems a lil complicated, but i'm hoping there are some newbie step by step guides available for this?

Any links, tips, suggestions or anything would be very much appreciated!
