  1. Currently using Adobe 6.5 w/Matrox X100 Card
    1) should I used Adobe mpeg encoder
    2) or use the Matrox Hardware encoder

    for my first project I used DVDit LE after encoding w/Adobe mpeg encoder--it looks prett lousy. I am producing DV's for a target audience with DVD set-top players. I am using DVD-R because it seems the medium has a high compatability rate of 80+%.

    This is a loaded question and all replies will be greatly appreciated.

    Neither, use TmpGenc, or CCE, or maybe Mainconcept.

    TmpGenc produces excellent quality but is slow.
    CCE can produce as good a quality as TmpGenc, is much faster but has a steeper learning curve in getteing the best out of it.
    Mainconcept is almost, but not quite as good a quality output as the others, easier to use than CCE but slightly more complicated than TmpGenc.

    Just to clarify the Adobe Mpeg encoder in 6.5 IS MainConcept. It should give you excellent results. More info available here:
