Just saw a new model that I have seen nothing on at BJs Club. It is a Panasonic DMR-E45. Anyone know anything about it? Its not on the Panasonic website either. It costs $399, includes a 5pk of DVD-RAMs and has component video out, SVideo out and composite video out, but no PC card or SD card that I could see.

I read something about this before. Costco is also selling panny recorders with different model #s. The catch is that since they're "clubs" that offer significant discounts, panasonic is allowing them to sell the same recorders (E20, E30, E50 etc) w/ different packaging so that the other retailers like best buy don't get pissed off. I believe that model may be an E50. Just compare the features.

The Panasonic "DMR-E45" boxes that I have seen at my local Costco include a DMR-E50, plus some additional blank DVD discs -- I'm not sure of how many / what kind, etc. It's just a "bundle package" of the machine and some discs, and seems to be a fine deal, at that!
