Hi,
I am new to DVD burning...I am about to get a DVD+R drive. My questions is as follows: With a data CD-R, I can burn a 2nd session and add to the disc. Is such a thing possible with a DVD+R with MPEG-2 video to be played on a standard DVD player connected to my TV?
I would like to be able to burn a 10-minute home video, for example, and then add another one later.
Thanks,
Mike

First part of the question. Can I record multiple sessions on a DVD like a CD. Answer, yes. I do this with data disks all the time.
Second question, can I do this so it will play in a stand alone DVD player.
Answer, I don't believe so, but may be wrong. The problem is that in order for your DVD to play in a standalone, it has to be all packaged up in the DVD standard structure, and there is far more to it than simply adding an additional video file. If you need to do this, I would recommend RW disks.
That said, if you don't use DVD format, but use SVCD if your player is compatible, then you could simply add mpeg file after mpeg file on the DVD disk. I have done this with episodes from TV shows. As I get new ones, I encode them to svcd and then add them to a blank DVD+R.
