    Hi!

I just registered and have found this site and the forum very helpful indeed. But I have this problem I can't find a solution to :

I tried extracting the audio from my .avi -file to .wav. Virtualdub however kept saying "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format." I dowloaded several audio decompressors without luck. Then I tried using GSpot and it said I needed a DIV3 -codec, so I downloaded the newest codec from http://www.divx.com. According to GSpot it was the right one and everything should have been under control. However, every time I tried to open my movie in Virtualdub, it crashed. So I tried Avi2wav instead. I succeeded, but no program would play the .wav -file, I kept getting an error message "missing codec". I tried downloading some codecs but had no luck.

Could someone help me please? I'm new to these kinds of things and I wasn't able to find help anywhere else. Any help is highly appreciated!

    Thank you in advance!

ps. Just tell me if you need some more details! I'm a true newbie so I don't really know how much information you need. Sorry about that.

Divx-3 is a video codec, you need an audio codec. Test it with Gspot again and see which one, AC3 maybe?

    Hi!

According to GSpot, I have the right audio codec (AC3) and everything should work fine.

Vdub cannot process AC3 audio, follow this guide for extracting: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/91588.php

Or use Goldwave, load your avi, select save, done.
