  1. I want to buy a pioneer a-03 from best buy
    before i buy it i want to make sure it does what i want. I have a Sony (mega Changer 300)dvd player in my home theater and i have a dvd player in the living room and in the room.
    I would like to copy my current dvd movies instead of exchanging them evry time i want to watch them or buy each movie times 3. i have a hewltt packard 1Ghz 128 Mb ram 60gig hard drive and a DVD drive

  2. Personally i would hold off from buying it at the moment. The proper standard for recordable DVD's is still being decided over between the major players. There are three different formats DVD-RAM, DVD+RW and DVD-RW. Also most of the recordable disc are only 4.7GB whilst a movie disc made professionally usually is 9.1GB therefore making it impossible to fit a movie onto the same disc with the same features and quality.

    i echo pachmania_2001 - wait till a standard is settled.

    why not run your home theater DVD through a video switching box (need to run cables to other TV/monitors obviously)

    I'm with pacmania. Until there's a definite standard it would be a waste to get a DVD burner right now. Technology moves pretty fast but I don't think we'll see prices go down considerably until a standard is set in place. I know that there are 3 different formats, one of them is DVD compliant, one is so-so and the other not at all.
    Get one now and you might end up with a burner for which media or support is unavailable overnight.
    No offense, but how hard is it to just take the DVD from one room to another?
