i have used smart ripper and then converted all the video to avi, but i cant seem to find the images which i can easily view with my standalone, is there a way to extract them maybe in bmp or something?

I'm not sure what you are asking but I think you want to just pull one picture [frame] out of a DVD. You can run the DVD in Power DVD or most other newer software DVD Players and just pause where you want the picture then choose Capture Frame save as a .bmp and do what you want with the image. If I misunderstand your question please disregard.

Open the DVD in DVD Decryptor in IFO mode. Get all the different streams that are not the main one. The ones that are maybe only a few mins long. Or even seconds long. then open that in VirtualDub. Each frame of the stream should be a diffent picture. Then use the copy source frame.

Well I'm not familiar with this DVD but most DVDs store the pictures and menu's in the first vob in the series in which the movie is located. So if the movie is VTS_1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc... then the menu's should be located in VTS_1.0.
Rip this vob in file mode and then load it into TMPGenc. You can then click on setting and go to the source range filter on the advanced tab to highlight the pictures you want. Drag the slider to the 1st picture and hit set start frame, then drag it to the last picture and hit set end frame. Keep hitting ok til you return to the main screen. Hit file/output to file/sequence BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG file. Set a target dir and filename and set the type of output you want, ie: jpg, bmp, etc... Hit ok and it will create one pic for each frame.
For a guide on how to do this, including an alternate method using virtualdub, you can check out steps 1 and 2 on my guide. http://home.att.net/~adam.poole/Introduction.htm
