DVD2ONE allows you to set the output file size to the full 4.37GB capacity of the disk. That cannot be done with DVDshrink, therfore DVDshrink encodes cannot be as good as DVD2ONE
My personal expierence indicates DVD2ONE provides visibly better results.
The current version,1.1.2,aloows full disk backup with audio stream selection.

I prefer DVDdecryptor-DVD2one-Nero for my copies. DVDShrink is ok, but it needs the feature to automaticly compress the DVD9's to 4.38Gb. I use cheap Princo 2x media. and have so far had NO coasters with my Sony DRU500 !!! :P :P
I am sure DVDshrink will be a big hit since it is free, but for now I feel the usd35.- or so I paid for DVD2one was well spent.
I always make full kopies of my discs.

I agree with daggad, I use DVDDecrypter, DVD2ONE, and Nero to burn and always come out with a great backup.

Actually you can set the output size of DVDshrink by a custom adjustment of the compression ratios. It takes a bit of tweaking but I can usually get near the 4.38GB limit of the media disc.

  8. Although DVD2ONE can compress right to the dot 4.38, the fact that DVDSHRINK allows you to remouve unecessary features (Like a french/spanish commentary) and anything else that you don't like, is what makes it the clear winner.

Mainly, I'd watch a DVD, see if the supplementaries were worth keeping and only include the ones I wanted, (this always helped the bit-rate for the movie).

You simply don't have these features with DVD2ONE. You do have these features with DVD SHRINK though, if you want, as soon as you initially scan the DVD with DVDSHRINK, you'll have a menu to select a level of compression for the entire film (not as accurate as DVD2ONE, but I am not complaining!!!)

You can also remove audio tracks in DVD2one. IMO the programs are both good and I use them both. Quality wise I give the edge to DVDshrink but both produce good quality backups.

DVD2One mostly for movie only. and although you didn't ask InstantCopy for bigger disks (i.e. over 6GB) and full disk copies.
