i called meritline and they said that this is a maxell dye....do you guys think that it's rejects from maxell?..cause they seem to be way too cheap....
if anyone has used these disks or branded maxells in a ps2 please report back..

They have no coatings on top, and are made to be cheap. Which also means they won't last and easily scratch. Buy white-topped Princo or spend real money on real discs like Apple.
I have no doubts of it being Maxell dye. I'm sure it is.
Cheap consumers keep asking for crap in media, and they're getting it. Maxell is just the lastest to join the bandwagon in appeasing the cheapskates. I refuse to buy some POS that won't last 5 years. I converted my VHS so that it would last LONGER, not just take up less space. Drop an uncoated disc and you're screwed. Fingerprint oils also eat away at the plastics, mostly seen in cheap discs. Don't believe me? Just wait. My earliest cheap CDs from the early 90s are nearly hosed these days, and the gold-coated/branded SONY and MAXELL discs of yesteryear still play good and strong. All because I had to learn the hard way that you get what you pay for.
