    i know this is a very newbish thing to ask but i still cant figure it out, can u play XViD movies on a dvd player, if not how can i....thanks

    Only a select few. look at the dvd players list on the left and search for ones that play mpeg-4 (DivX, XviD, open DivX, ect.).

    How do DivX compatible players work? Is there an accepted format like SVCD or something that you burn to?
    Can you use CD-R's as well as DVD-R's?
