Video File --------> Frames?

Is it possible to import a video file in a program and then export, or somehow display all of its frames?

What I have is an mpeg that i cut; its about 2 seconds long.

I want to zoom in on part of it, and then cut out a few frames and make it an animated gif.

The gif part is easy...all i need is the frames..

so i need to find an editting program to split my video file into frames..


any help would be appreciated...

virtualDub mod or virtualdub mpeg2 mod ....I use virtual dub mpeg 2 mod

Open file it imports use the scroll bar to preview the frames the copy paste to clipboard open it in a view like infran view or gif editor bingo

i was trying to find a way that i wouldnt have to copy and paste each individual frame..

and besides...how is that different from regular virtualdub?

you can do it also in premiere , vegas , tmpgenc and a bunch of other programs ..

tmpgenc works real well for this ..

virtualdub mpeg2 mod allows you to open mpg files the orignal vdub does not...

the original vdub DOES let you open mpg files
(mine happens to be mpeg1)

just not mpeg2


but still...
