Why doesn't my Pioneer A04 like to burn CDRS?

I just got this A04 a few weeks ago and have been burning DVDs beautifully... but it won't burn bin/cue files with CDR. WHY?

I upgraded to 1.40 firmware and then downgraded to 1.31 with no luck still.

I have no clue!

CDRwin will not work, Fireburner will not work, and Nero will not work, they all fail at the start when I try to burn bin/cue files.

My 32X CDRW works fine though but I want this DVD-R to replace it!

You're better off using your 32xCDRW. Why risk damaging and wearing out your expensive DVD-RW when you've still got a very good CDRW for those jobs?

Use the DVDRW for DVDs, and leave the CD-Rs to your cheaper drive.

My answer was meant to be helpful.

Return it and replace it if you can, but still keep in mind that you are better off using your CDRW for CD burns. How can you not have room for it? You likely have two IDE connections on your motherboard, each can have two devices. So even if you have two harddrives you would still have room for a DVDRW and a CDRW.

*shrug* whatever, if you are happy shortening the life of your DVDR drive thats your business.

Mordant, not everyone has room for an extra drive... I'd need to go buy another power splitter (bringing the total to 3 in my PC) to be able to put my CDR back in... I do have one available IDE channel left at least that can use CDR's... Of course I have two DVD+RW's a DVD-ROM and 5 hard drives in my machine...

But Mordant, the guy was pretty rude to you anyway, your answer WAS helpful, just because he didn't state his question and situation clearly you are at fault obviously Makes you think that maybe we need to learn to read minds better huh?

Curious as to why you need/have 2 DVDRWs...I've got a DVD Rom for ripping, A CDRW, and a DVDRW.

ElQueso, I've got the Pioneer A04 as well. I think I recall that when I first installed it I tried CDr burning just to see how it went and there were certain types of images it wouldn't burn, I never intended to use it for that so didn't give it much thought. What are you trying to burn? Have you tried both Disc At Once and Track At Once?

What brand of CD-R are you using. Try another. It needs to be high quality and rated at a certain speed, not sure what speed check your manual.

Well he aint the only one that cant burn cdr's on a 104 I can either & nor can my m8 on his so there must be something wrong with them... & I know its not my pc but luckily I have the space for a cdrw drive & another dvdrom... but this is not the case here
