  1. I have a divx with ac3 sound.
I have tried extracting the ac3 from the divx (as explained in this site) and to convert it using besweet and or headache. All attempts to create a usable wav file have failed.Goldwave crashes before I even load the video. Ac3decode can play the ac3 file but not convert it to wav...it fails and aborts.
The original divx has noise in it which i have since then cut out in an attempt to find a solution.
    Divfix does not work iether.
I have the ac3 file and the combined divx with ac3 sound to work with.
I would appreciate any constructive help offered in how to iether convert the ac3 to wav for use in tmpg or how to use the ac3 file and still create a vcd that will play in a standalone dvd player.

Headache warns of a corrupt acs file or bad frames at the start or end of the ac3 file.
I really need some constructive ideas here!

  4. You could simply load the Divx file into Tmpgenc and convert...

  5. TPMGENC doesn't recognise ac3 as far as I know..which aint much!
That is why u have to extract and convert the ac3 first before u can convert to vcd format.
    Am I RIGHT OR NOT?
If I am right, then are there anymore ideas?
If I am wrong then...can I get some directions on how to go about this?
Thanking everyone in advance for constructive input!

Maybe my copy is faulty...but i have tried downloading it 5 times already to the same result!
So I need help on iether how to use the utility, or any other ideas for saving what has now become a plague!
I now have 5 divx files, all with the same problem!
Is there some diabolical fiend out there making divx files that are impossible to convert to vcd? lol

  9. For divx w/AC3, use Cool edit pro 2. Under file, select Extract audio from video. Works for me all the time. Won't work if you try to drag it in tho. Then you can save it as mp3. and use nandub to mux them together. BTW, I don't think I'll be making any more divx/ac3 anymore, cause when I scan ahead, the audio level drops to like nothing.

Tmpgenc DOES recognise AC3, make sure "Direct Show Multimedia File Reader" has a high priority in VFAPI plug-in settings.

I'm glad you found something that works. For the record, here's how to use AC3Fix. Open a Dos window(shell), enter this from the command line: AC3Fix <input filename> <outputfilename> . You have to include the full path names for all three files, or put them into the same directory and log into it at the dos screen.

Personally, Goldwave has never failed for me. 8)
