So 2x speed recording is not limited anymore on Ritek G3 as with the previous released patched firmware.

omg I have been looking for this for a long time.
Cant wait to try it with Ritek G03 -
my prayers have been answered.
Watch pioneer start to release counter attack fury of new bios
Media companies pay pioneer to get on the 2x list! Now they don't have to anymore. hehe -
Don't do it. Those hacked firmwares have problems. Experience. When the files say "AT YOUR OWN RISK!", it's not a joke or something to take lightly.
My 103 no longer read/writes RW discs or CDs. All thanks to one of NIL's 2x4all firmwares.
Yes, it will record some 1x discs at 2x, but the results are not great. Let's just say the 1x discs are 1x for a reason. More coasters than not.
I'm sure I'll get some arguments, but it's like those weight-loss ads on tv. The fine print always says "RESULTS NOT TYPICAL OF ALL USERS" or something to that effect. Same is true here. Some users get it to work great and are very lucky. But I find most 2x4all users to be unhappy and go back to an official firmware, often with bad results like mine.
It has little to do with Pioneer certification. Most of those 1x disc companies are willing to pay to be certified 2x, they just get rejected because their discs suck. The whole 1x/2x/4x speed has little do to with money: 9 times out of 10, it's about disc balance (or failure thereof, hence no certification).
You're been warned... again. I wouldn't do it if I were you. -
Well in reply to the above comment, Yes it is about money here in the UK we pay (Approx) 70p+ for 1x media £1.20+ for 2x media.
Therefore if by downloading a patch I can get 2x burning for 70p then I'm willing to give it a go.
Just for the record I HAVE downloaded and re-flashed my Pioneer 105 and can now burn a full movie in under 30mins on a "1x disk"
I have watched it from start to finnish on my Xbox console and it is Flawless, I used Datawrite Yellow top white branding and they are available all over the place for as little as £60 per 100.
I understand that it is up to individuals to make there mind up as to wether or not to perform this operation BUT I did and its fine so far and I looked into it deeply before I did it and I have not seen any negative feedback from people that have actually done it.
My thoughts are THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME TIME/MONEY! -
I have just flashed my A05 with the 2X4All and it has been flawless. I have now burned at least 10 Datawrite Yellow tops and each has played back perfect on all stanalones.....Very Happy. And if it does not work out the firmware can be flashed again to downgrade.

I installed the firmware a few days ago, and it works great! I upgraded using the regular firmware from 1.00 to 1.21 to 1.30, trying to get my drive to burn ACCU & RITEK discs at 2x like so many others on this site claim to be able to do, with no luck. I also had a problem that whenever I reboot the system, the bios would sometimes not recognize the drive. This firmware fixed that problem too! The drive still uses DVD-RW media at its' rated speed, and also still uses CD-R/RW media correctly also. Best patch ever!

You guys are being their beta testers. If I were to upgrade to the hacked firmware I'd wait till they are finished and "all" the bugs and problems are worked out. -

So this firmware hack is not for Princo 1xspeed. Will try some datawrites 1xspeeds next week.

Remco,
I think it's still highly dependent on the batch of Princo you use. I still had some left over from when I first began burning because I had quickly switched over to Ritek G03s. So, after applying the firmware hack, I tried them on my World at War series and 4 out of 4 flow perfectly... no hiccups on any of my units.
I only point this out so that folks who have some Princos sitting around might want to give it a shot. I'm completely convinced that Princo is a questionable media, but I don't think success or lack thereof is related to this firmware hack.
