I just upgraded my HP Pavillion 7865 to WinXP, and since the upgrade have been unable to play dvd's in the supplied Toshiba sd-m1502 dvd rom drive.. I have installed all the hardware/software updates that m$ offers on windows update, and have tried several dvd programs including WinDVD, PCFriendly DVD, and WMP. Every program besides WMP says that I need to lower the resolution or color depth on the comp, neither of which have worked. WMP says that the computer has found no compatible DVD decoder.
When the computer was running the OEM WinME install, the dvd drive had absolutely no problems whatsoever.
The Toshiba website offered no help, stating simply that all versions of windows support the drive w/o any special drivers.
Anyone run into this before or know any way of fixing the problem? I really don't want to have to go back to using WinME since it's utter crap :/
Thanks in advance.
