Hi,
Ive used TmpgEnc for all my mpeg needs! Recently tho, Ive been given the option of these programs;
Cinema Craft Encoder; ccesp2.25, 2.62 and sp2.50
Lsx Mpeg Encoder
Xing Mpg Encoder and
Ffdshow
I will mainly be using the program to convert my avi into vcd svcd / mpeg 1/2 formats.
Anyone any idea which one will be better for my needs? Or aware with any problems with these progs?
Many thanks
N

Stick with TMPGEnc for VCD/MPEG1
Try CCE for SVCD/MPEG2. It's a bit faster, but no real noticable quality improvement (others will argue).
Overall, TMPGEnc is the go.
Search CCE and TMPGENC for previous discussions on this subject.

Main Concept is pretty interesting. Free demo, fast, nice quality, very simple to use and made for AVI to MPEG. .............. harrymj3

It may be slow, but that depends on if you want to do encodes like an
assembly line.. or get a faster pc.
I've tried and used cce. I'm not that all impressed thougth it does have
its strengths. I prefer TMPG because you can tweak it far more than
you can w/ cce (depending on which cce versoin you have access to)
It's TMPG all the way.
Good luck on your decision.

TMPG w/kwag template xvcd+ at 100% quality(100min in 1 cd 700mb)
w/avs filters gives HQ xvcd more than CCE as is faster
in CCE to have HQ xvcd you need more than 3 passes -
I encode my CVD's and SVCD's with TMPGEnc also because it's easier to tweak and understand.
:P
