just got my sony 500ul please help a new guy

i have it hooked up to usb1 right now, untill i get a 4pin to 6 pin wire

i just got my burner and i am getting really aggravated. there are a couple things. lets start out with DVDdecryter. i keep getting errors, at random, sometimes my burner doesnt show up, sometimes it does. before i use a dvd-rw in my dvd burner do i need to format it in some way, or just i just put it in, what if there is files on it and i want to put an .iso on it from dvd decripter, will it over write or do i need to format?

my toshiba dvd-rom in my lap top will not read +RW or -RW, is this normal or am i doing ti wrong.

i have lots of questions, if someone is willing to help i would reall like to talk over aol AIM messaging

that was really fuzzy. to clearify....

when i put a sonyDVD+RW into the dvd burner it reads the files(actually a movie) on the disk. if i open dvdDecripter with the +RW disc it opens and seem to work fine

when i put a memorex DVD-RW into the dvd burner it reads the files(i have 1 pic on it) on the disc. if i open up dvdDecrypter with the -RW i get this error right away... {

interpretation: inquiry
Reason: a device attached to the system isnt functioning correctly
}

i then hit cancel and it doesnt show my dvdburner in the selection of dvdburner dropdown box

that error only shows up with the -RW
