  1. Hi,
As a UK PAL user I am on the virge of giving up on my ATI Radeon due to the macrovision issues (macrovision detection on my own camcorder tapes even after passing through a Sima Colour Corrector). My main use will be capture via S-VHS or composite input using HuffYUV or uncompressed. I'm not too bothered about TV quality.

Superficially the Hauppage and Pinnacle/Miro products look pretty similar. Is one better than the other in terms of ease of installation/driver support/output quality.

Currently using Win98 and an ABIT KT7-Raid m/b

I own the WinTV USB, ATI TV Wonder, and a Pinnacle/Micro Studio PCTV Pro (wow, I got too many TV Cards; lol).

I originally got my WinTV a long time ago, and well, it wasn't that great. The WinTV USB is probably the lowest end of all the WinTV cards, since it has mediocre or less tv quality and only mono. I'm pretty the 'more recent' WinTV cards surely surpasses the quality of the USB models.

I also bought the ATI TV Wonder afterwards, since I was unsatisified with the WinTV USB because the quality sucked and it only captured @ 320x240... The TV Wonder was a great card, but provided some weird compatiblity issues with my new motherboard. But it was Stereo Audio and able to capture @ 720x480.

So then I recently bought my PCTV Pro, and am highly satisfied with it. It provides high quality television and able to capture up to 720x480. And it even comes with a remote controller. =)
