if you author in DVDit you can add whatever you like for the "first play" screen/video. i assume you can do this with most other authoring software as well.

  4. That helps a little, but the real question I am asking is how do I turn a picture or mpeg into a .vob file that will pop up on the screen? Should I use spruce up?

    Thanks again,
    Tony

if its an mpeg you can use ifoedit, click "author new title" load in the mpeg, and any audio you want, let it do it's thing (a few minutes at most) then you will have two ifo fies, and one vob. job done.

Cool! can you elaborate please, I have never used Ifoedit before, I usually use Smartripper, then either DVD2ONE or Pinacle Instant copy depending on what results I want.
I have authored some excellent short movie clips (avi) in Ulead Cool 3d and would love to have them as an intro to the main feature.
This could be a fantastic way of putting a "signature" on backups that individuals have created themselves.

I look forward to your next post.

well, it's pretty much like i said, download ifoedit (it's in the tools section) and open it up. click DVD Author menu, author new DVD. press the button next to the video input source to browse to your video, same with the audio. choose a location for the output stream (note, you need to create the directory -first- ifoedit can't create them) and away you go.

I think what he wants is howto make like a custom intro video to use with his DVDs, I really dont think Ifoedit is gonna help much there.

Do you need help creating the video or inserting it into the disk?

  9. I needed help doing both. I think what flaninacupboard is saying is that I just make my video with my digital camera and then insert it into the DVD with ifoedit. I have not had a change to try it.

    Should this work?

    Thanks for the help!
