decided to give InterVideo windvd Recorder a go on the recomendation of this web site users.

I have tried winvcr II 3.0 and that works fine.

I now wish to give intervideo windvd recorder a go and capture

    pc is
    OS: windows 2000 professional
    CPU: amd Duron 1.2
TV tuner card with common brooktree BT chipset
SOUND CARD: Sound Blaster Vibra 128 PCI

Problem 1: I can capture video but never get any sound. Whats wrong
how do I caputer sound as well as video. Must be doing something wrong.

Problem 2: Pressing Stop, save video and I loose the preview fron the composite input and the only way to get it back is to exit the program and restart. How do you retain the preview windo after window.

How do you or can you set the file size to capture to? capture time unlimited and capture to files of a certain size (ie 1gb each).

not the case as I can hear the audio through the pc speakers
have line in ticked as recording source and in the win dvd recorder volume controll pannels I have both the recording volume and the playback volume enabled and set fairly high. So I know the audio is getting to the pc as the preview window and audio can be heard.

Im at a loss to understand why it would only capture video but not the audio, when every other capture program i have used does both audio and video perfectly.

  4. Start WINDVR
Right click on the window displaying the TV picture
    Choose "Setup"
    Choose "Device"
See your sound device and choose the appropriate line for the TV sound, like "Line in" or whatever.

Worked out the volume problem with windvd recorder.

apparently when you set the record volume to maximum insinde the program, you switch to recording control volume in widnows and it only shows being 1/3 or the way up. Therefore when I recorded I had to turn the speakers volume to maximum to hear anything. but make sure u mute the line in playback volume or have it turned down very low or it will be too loud to almost damage the speakers.

so you have to check the volume control and manually set the recording volume b4 you start.
