  1. I´m starting with iMac, and i know nothing about coping dvd to dvdr. i would like to know if anyone can help me starting, like what program should i use to copy to harddisc and how to record it in a dvdr.
i´ve a iMac G4, with combo drive, and i´m using MAC OS Jaguar. but i´ve also the Mac OS 9.
    Thanks.

  2. My first suggestion would be to get a PC.
Unless whatever encoding app your using is altivec enabled, you are wasting your time.

I used to have a G4 myself, and I can tell you my PC does 10 times what the mac could.

However, if you are set in your mac ways, there are some progs in the Tools section on the lefthand side of this page.

    Good luck to you.

Yeah... That's REAL helpful information for the MAC video forum...

  5. Honestly, I can't think of a more helpful suggestion for mac video editors. :P :P

Even though your combo drive will enable you to rip the original DVD to your hard drive, you'll actually need a SuperDrive or external DVD burner to make your own DVD's.

Buying a PC is a rather expensive proposition when you can just buy a PC emulator and stick it in your Mac. A program called DVD2one is all the rage at the moment here in the forum, and your friends on the internet have worked some magic to make it friendlier to emulation software.

However, you'll still get nowhere in making your own DVD-R without a DVD burner.

  7. Buying a PC is an expensive option? Since when?

The lowest model PowerMac costs $1600.
A custom built PC with DVD-RW that will kick the shit out of the G4 in anything but vector processing costs less than $900.

    I second that!
The Title of this is Mac Video Forum is it not?

By the way, there is a topic near the top of the list called Easiest DVD-9 to DVD-5 process

give that a try. thats to get a dvd onto one disk

If you want exact quality copy, you will need 2 disks, and any dvd backup program of which there are many.

  10. PC users can be so rude, if I wanted to do it on a PC I would have bought a PC, but I didn't, and I don't plan too, so thanks for nothing.

  11. Sorry, my bad. If you want to do it the expensive, overcomplicated, non-standard way, thats your perogative.

A total of 16 posts and mostly in the newbie conversion forum. Why dont you take your PC and go back there where your remarks are probably more welcome.

  13. Mr. IceFag

Using a PC is not an option for me, the only computers I have access to are Mac's, so for me the most in-expensive & least complicated way, and yes non-standard if you mean alternative to the consumer masses, is what I seek.
