I am using driver 4.12.6292 and Win98 SE. The last time I tried the update (several months ago) I ran into all kinds of problems and ended up backing it out. The updated driver supports DirectShow only and, if my memory serves me right, there were a limited number of capture resolutions. Has anything changed with the latest driver and is there a good reason to try the update again?

no, stick with 6292. you can however upgrade to MMC 7.1 (if you haven't already) without changing drivers. it's a little better at MPEG capture, and does some very good SVCDs
