  1. Everybody!

Gradius just posted a firmware for burning Ritek G3 on the DVR-05. The firmware makes the drive also RPC1 instead of RPC2.

Great work from Gradius, NIL and zaitec32.

    Works like a charm!!!!

Here is the link on www.rpc1.com

  4. I have 2 Compaqs. 1 came with an A03 the other with an A04. You can't upgrade the firmware on those. I recently purchased an A05. Sorry new at this. So if I upgrade to the hack firmware I can burn 2x on Riteks that are rated for 1x right? Also how stable are these disc? I read the above links and 1 person had a problem. Can anyone else share their experience with me? Please? Need to know before I switch firmware cause everything is burning happliy on Princos right now.

    Thanks

  5. Joe328,

you just have the ability to burn Ritek G3 at 2x speed. You can still burn at 1x if you don't feel confident or if you experience problems. There are different batches of Ritek G3s and some could work / some don't. Mine do.

Gradius also found a possibility to revert to older firmwares. So you are not stuck with the hacked one in the very low probability case that you have trouble. Believe me: IMHO this firmware just rocks and is based on the newest 1.30 release (+RPC1 region free possibility + 2x speed for Ritek G3).

Please also check the forum on www.rpc1.com for your A03 /A04. Please read through all the "stickies" in the DVD -R/RAM forum.

Joe328 Between my and two friends of mine we have burned LOTS of Ritek G03s at 2x, I personally have had like maybe 2 disk ever be bad because of the fast burning speed. With the cost per disk on Ritek is worth a try to check for yourself.

  7. Thank god Gradius made this firmware now I dont have to buy crappy Princo 2X's now I can stick with reliable Riteks and not worry about DVD rot. I just bought 100 ritek disc's this week.

  9. Nothing,

you should read the posts in the www.rpc1.com DVD-R/RAM forum. You have to use UPGDVD /F (capital F switch is important, not lowercase!!!!) to "F"orce the upgrade if 1.30 is already installed.

  10. Okay I will try it as soon as I finish doing some burning. I will have ta finish using a few spindles of 1x princos first. Price was going up so I stocked up. If it burns as good as you say I will sell my compaq firmware A03 and A04 and get 2 more A05s. hee hee I got 5 A05 already. Unless anyone knows how to hack these drives? (I got compaq systems very very cheap, I usually build my own but like I said too good of a deal on these systems thats why I got compaq firmware on these two drives)

    Thanks for replying guys!

  12. Nothing,

please make a DOS boot disk, put all the firmware files and the UPGDVD on it and try it with that. Sometimes some drivers like the Intel Application Accelerator prevent the upgrade in a Windows environment.

Also: You have to leave a space between UPGDVD and /F.
    (UPGDVD <space>/F)

  13. Theirs is no need to use any other media now, Riteks are cheap and reliable, I just bought 100 ritek pack early this week before the firmware came out , Im ordering 200 in my next purchase.

NOTHING you will have to downgrade tp firmware .58 then reupgrade to the hacked 1.30, thats what I had to do, it worked perfect, use the link that coopervid gave you.
