  1. Hi, I was just curious if "NOT" deleting the menu's in Maestro before compiling has ANY affect at all? Until recently, I had NEVER deleted menu's and at the end of the compile I would get a few errors/messages saying that I didn't have a subpicture or menu...etc..etc...I knew I didn't so I didn't worry about it.

I realized that after I deleted the menu option, I would no longer have any messages after the compile. I did notice one other interesting thing too, but I just want to see if anyone else can confirm it without me mentioning it. I never use menu's, so basically, I am just asking if there is "ANY" difference in deleting the menu option in Maestro as opposed to "NOT" deleting the menus. Thank in advance for any info/replies on this.

  2. No difference. Normally if I don't have a menu I delete it. I also always assign a play first command, because I don't like getting that errors message/window. Although I do author with mp2 audio a lot and that's a 'no-no' too

    Anyway it's not a problem.

  3. thanks vejita...I appreciate the response. I'm glad to hear that there is no difference on whether or not I delete the menu option. I too don't like seeing any messages so I now usually delete the menu option and assign a first play.

One thing I have noticed though..and maybe it is due to something else..but Maestro used to take about 20 minutes to compile on my system...and I've noticed that when I delete the menu option Maestro has taken between 9 and 11 minutes to compile.

Can anyone verify if this could be possible by just deleting the menu option..or is it possibly something else? I did recently reformat and partition my hard drive so that could be it...i'm just curious. Thanks again in advance

  4. Hmm? Could be, you should run some test compiles and see. I never paid much attention to the time it takes, I wonder off and do something else until it beeps

I will do just that. That is a serious difference in time, and after three movies you save about 30 minutes. Those minutes start adding up especially when you take into consideration the encoding times, etc.

I will test it out and see, but since I have been deleting the menu's I have noticed Maestro has compiled ridiculously fast. As I mentioned...it's twice as fast as "with" menu's..although, it may have to do with the repartition of my HD..but I will report back when I test a few movies "BOTH" ways.
