RecordNow and NEro

I have a SonyDRU500A burner and have been using RecordNow as my burning software burning with the Record Data. For some reason it quit working. I have reloaded my computer to start fresh and it still will not work with the DVD-R's I have (RITEK2X Media). It says that I need to clean my disk or get new media.

I have burnt with every option under the sun under Nero and my Home DVD Player will not play them.. (AIWA DV-370).

The DVD-R's play fine on my computer but not on standalone player under Nero....

Does anyone have any clue as to way it will not work or even why maybe RecordNow stopped working for me...

No idea why it stopped working but try this. Un-install RecordNow from the windows control panel add/remove menu. Now open or run "regedit" from the windows start/run menu then go to edit and "search". Do a search for things like "RecordNow" or any other name associated with the program and delete any and all entries you fine. Now re-install RecordNow and see it that fixes the problem.

This question was posted on this site(can't find it)but it turned out to be the Sony drive.But first you might try:
1.ForceASPI
2.a new IDE ribbon or USB/Firewire cable

BOB W- I tried what you said with no luck... that is why I went ahead and reloaded windows XP... guess I wasn't clear on that...

BTW my Sony DRU500A completely died on me two days ago after about 300 burns.

Is it still under warrenty?

I guess it would be through Sony however Sony support is less than thrilling to deal with.

I really had never been a big sony fan till I bought my VIAO Laptop and camera..... I also have a WEGA tv cause I thought they made such good products..... but beginning to wonder about this DVD recorder....

I do like it a lot but it sure is be troublesome... I was wondering if maybe Veritas maybe did something to the software to make it not burn lower priced media?

The update I am running on mine is at 1.0f and that is what the RiteK 2x calls for...

My Sony 500A stopped recording Ritek 4x media after I updated from 1.0d to 1.0f firmware. It would only burn at 2x.

Well the forceaspi thing did not work... It still will not reconize my disk under RecordNow.... I just dont understand why it quit working... I didn't change a thing on it......



Guess I may have to go out and get a new DVD player then......
