  1. Okay, this is super-frustrating: I've authored a dvd folder using Sonic DVDit.. Everything is fine with that, I tested it in my root hard drive directory with PowerDVD and it works great. So I loaded up RecordNow DX (the upgraded version of what came with the drive).. Using the Sony DVD+RW that came with the drive, I burned the video and audio folders using data mode, with the option to "recognise Video and Audio TS folders per the DVD specification".. The burn was fine and I then burned a Legacy DVD-R in the exact same manner. Happily I noted that both discs played perfectly in my pc using PowerDVD and WinDVD.. However, I encountered my problem when I took the discs out to my standalone, which is a Sampo DVE-611 (it plays pretty much everything, including burned media).. Neither disc would play. Let me also say that a buddy of mine has a Pioneer A04 and has burned many copies of movies for me using the same Legacy discs, and they play fine in the Sampo. So I started scouring the RecordNow forums and noted that some folks with the same problem have actually had luck when they UNCHECK the aforementioned "recognise video and audio TS folder etc" option.. I erased the +R/W and reburned it this way.. Same thing, plays in my pc fine, no go in the Sampo. At this point I moved on to Nero and burned a DVD Video disc according to this guide from Nero's support page - ftp://ftp6.nero.com/Support_doc/PDFDVD/CreateVideo-DVD.PDF .. the result was the same.. Also tried Nero Express and it did the same.. This is ridiculous! Are there any settings I'm neglecting? Or is there a better prog for burning with the DRU500A? I've read other posts here and see that Nero has been sketchy with it.. But most people seem to have had luck with RecordNow.. I just don't get it. PLEASE help if possible, and thanks in advance.

  2. I don't have a standalone to test my backup made using Recordnow DX.
However I do know that using the standard Recordnow (the one that comes free with the DRU500) works just fine. Make a data disc, add in the VIDEO_TS. Add in AUDIO_TS and burn. Works great.

Only annoying thing is it creates a funky volume label. In Recordnow DX you can change it. I think the secret to making it work is the setting under options for DVD Copy. If someone knew the exact settings that standard Recordnow used and enabling that in Recordnow DX you should have no problems.

One thing that might help is BURNING from an ISO IMAGE of the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS

    thats what the pros tellme...
otherwise TRY NERO [5.5.17 or above..
cause if its below-same problem you have now..-]

Please use the DVD VIDEO setting not DVD UDF

  4. Did you tell or check the option in RecordNow to close or finalize the DVD? If not the burned DVD will not play in stand alone players but will play fine on a computer.

  5. Just a quick update: I've taken the DVDRs I burned and tried them in several of my friends' DVD standalone players AND THEY PLAYED FINE IN EVERY ONE OF THEM!!! Even in a couple that are super-cheap and won't play legit VCDs, much less burned ones.. Under any other circumstance this would say to me that my player is at fault. BUT as I mentioned before, a buddy of mine burns movies to the exact same Legacy discs and lets me borrow them - They always play in my player with no problems. This makes absolutely no sense to me.. Why can my player play discs burned by him, but not ones burned by me (using the exact same media)? My player, again, is a Sampo DVE-611 which plays all regions, both PAL and NTSC, and burned media (except for this time).

How do you make an ISO image file from the two folders? I haven't tried this, but if it works then I definitely will. Please advise. Also, I do have the very latest Nero, and did use the DVD Video settings.

I didn't see this exact option in the options menu. But if it's there, I imagine it's checked. The discs did play in other players.

Well I certainly hope someone can help.. This is ridiculous. Also, what was the whole deal with the past msgs I saw on changing the UDF in Nero? Might this do something? Thanks for all the past responses, and please help if you can.
