If someone knows otherwise, I'd be interested. Is there a store in the Los Angeles area that sells Riteks on a regular basis that is a WALK IN STORE? I have contacted every online California store, and NONE of them accept walk ins. not a single one. I need to be abel to buy new Riteks at least twice a month, and am looking for a store that I can walk into to do it in the Los Angeles area. Any help would be appreciated.

Ritek 4x DVD-R at a sub $1.50 price are the same situation. Rare to be found in a store.
You're actually quite lucky to be so close to the RIMA center. I'd bet it only takes 24-48 hours for you to get some discs in the mail. If you go through so many of these things, then place an order for 200 of them and call it good for a few weeks. Make it 500 next time if needed.
I guess I'm just not understanding your refusal to buy through the mail. If you were in Hawaii, Maine or Alaska, I might understand.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

PC Club sells Ritek but they are only in select areas in the Northwest I think.
Buy online because you will save money and get what you want,if you want a shipment faster then pay for overnight or 2nd day shipping. -

That's right, just order a few extras and be done with it. I mean unless your buying one at a time for some reason, order a spindle online from the guys next door and they might even drop them off on the way home from work!
I mean I am central USA and I got my shop4tech orders in 3 days, including the day I ordered if it was real early in the morning!
And I buy a ton from newegg, I think also in CA, I don't think anything from them has ever been longer than 4 days, normally 3days! Unless I order late in the day, then 4. Or a holiday or something.
Hardware orders, not disks at newegg though.
If ya don't have a credit card, go get a checking acount that has a debit card. Debit cards work same as credit cards, you just got to have the money in the bank, instead of spending what you don't have!
Most banks around me give them free with the checking account, and I even have free checking! Talk about a deal!! No minimum balance required!
Be glad you got a choice anyway. For me it's online or nothing! All we got around here is wallmart! I have more computers and parts in my house than the local computer stores!! Nearly all from online! Only thing I normally buy local is Monitors, I like the $118 17" kds xtreme flats from wallmart! Got 3! Anything else I gotto drive 150-200 miles (Both ways, UP HILL too)
Or buy online!
Heck I even have to buy my plating supplies and pewter casting supplies online, and that includes pewter ingots from canada! -

hey I live in Los angeles and goto walk in shops to buy dvd-r every other week. There's a really cheap place in santa ana off the 405 and 55 freeway that sells riteks for under a buck. there website is QTCCDR.COM they are open on week days but not weekends. But the best place to walkin and buy riteks or any other dvd-r/+r is to go to a computer fair. computer fairs are held twice a month. theres one in burbank, costa mesa and a really big one in pomona. last month i got 100 4X ritek dvd-r G03 for 90 bucks flat ...90cent per 4x dvd-r and that included tax...goto the computer fair you will get hella good prices theres one in pomona this weekend.
heres the computer fair info:

But the Ritek DVD-R analogy is probably closer to the E100VS analogy. Not the easiest to find, but do-able. Normally that stuff run $10 per roll in stores, closer to $5 each by mail order...
Here's another one... find some Kodak infrared 35mm color slide. Now that's a challenge. Only 2 stores anywhere in any of the surrounding cities near me have that in stock. And even then, only a dozen rolls at a time, kept in the freezer.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

OK, you got me with the IR film. Last time I was looking for something they were out of stock on, they offered me their last IR film. It was old, and didn't sell, and they were not going to keep any on hand. So no more IR film. The 2.8 lens would be in stock. Even sometimes the big ticket 600 APO lenses, though not as likely since the Canon 600 f4 still goes for around $8000 to $10000 I think.
Heck nobody around me even has an Epson 900, or 950 (960) for people to look at, though places like Staples sell them, but it seems only online.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... Their G03's are even CHEAPER. a 50 disc pack of G03's was ony $53 bux. A 25 pc spindle was only 28 bux. It was amazing when I went in there. The store had nothing but discs, and multi burners from floor to ceiling, that's IT. It was an office building. First time ever being in a situation like that. But they're going to be my regular suppliers of Riteks, since I can drive down there anytime between Mon. and Fri. Only time I wouldn't go to them is if PC Club had another one of those insane sales in G04's. By the way, I went to PC Club 2 days ago to see what the status was on those orange topped G04's, and they said the Ritek won't be making them anymore. That style is noe dead. Those orange topped G04's are officially dinosaurs. -

Yes I am in the styx. Picture a triangle.
Springfiel,MO St.loius MO, Littlerock, Ar. (USA)
I am about center of that triangle, and it's about 150miles to two of those major towns and 200miles to the third. I am sure there are alot of places I don't know about closer, but I don't know about them
That's why I didn't really mind the thought of driving to Dallas, TX to pick up a printer I bought. I needed to go shopping anyway
Glad you found your disks local X. SO that look like a good dependable place to buy online from too then? I'll check them out, but if you have already, for every-ones info, what are the online prices like from that place? You have any info on them?? -

For me they were too high.
$3 more on a 25pack of ritek printables than rima.
I tried shipping, it showed like $8 to ohio, but to me here in MO it turned up as $9???
OK figure that one out, I am half the distance but a dollar more??
Last ime I checked out rima, it was supposed to be like $5 for 100disks, so I guess for me it's best to stay where I am already looking so far.
But they should be good for you walkin guys!!
And maybe some people for mail order too? -
I live in orange county (south) so I don't plan on driving up to LA to buy disks, but I was going to say the PC club down here usually has Ritek's for sale.
I have heard about that shop near the 55 freeway but never knew the name until now. Thanks for the info! -
Alhambra!!! That's not L.A. Everyone knows L.A. ends at the 405 as you're heading east. OK, maybe the 110.
-
I personally don't understand why anyone would NOT be OK with mail order. I can see if you ran out and forgot to order more and needed to do a project on the fly, but to drive to a place in LA traffic and wait 11 minutes and then drive back in more LA traffic seems a bit crazy. No offense intended.
To each his own I guess. I know a few people that I work with that will not buy online. I ask why and they say that they are afraid of scammers, indentity theft, and having their bank accounts drained. I told them that this is virtually impossible if you use a credit card (dont use debit cards), are using a secure site, and don't give out your SSN to anyone.
I have been buying online for many years and have saved literally thousandds of dollars. Personally I would rather pay a shipping fee than pay a state sales tax. No sales tax for "out of state" orders. Many of the sites I use have FREE SHIPPING, so you can win on both fronts. -
cplevel42,
I'm inclined to agree with you. I buy by mail order sometimes unless I can find a better deal in town. There are a lot of options here in Calif. but sometimes I find things are quite a bit cheaper online.
IMO, the biggest problem with mail order is that so many of the sellers are located here in CA, so we have to pay sales tax, which negates some of the benefits of buying by mail order. I don't know how many times I've checked before ordering only to find that the co. is located here, hence there will be tax. Then to have to also pay shipping costs (though some are free, I know) almost eliminates the advantage of lower costs, plus having to wait for it to be shipped on top of it.
Then if it's defective or otherwise not what you expected, you have to pay for shipping cost to send it back, plus get an RMA.
So it probably depends on when you need something and where you live as to what the best deal is. I check out everything before ordering. If I can only save a dollar or two, I'd likely buy it here instead of waiting for it.

BJ's in New Jersey sells Fugi 50 pack spindle. Checked the manufacturers info on the disc, says RitekG03. Price 69.99. Not bad at all.

Roundabout makes a great point about many of these tech companys being located in CA, so I can see why he dosn't want to pay for taxes and shipping, so (i am x) I'm glad that I raised the issue because I have gained some extra understanding on the issue.
Anytime that I feel that I don't understand something I will ask for clarification, even if you don't like it. Too bad. I'm meant no offense by my comments and I'm sorry that you felt that my opinion was an attack on your buying habbits. I was only seeking understand your point of view.
If you feel that you don't need to justify or explain the reasons why you don't buy online, then fine, that is your right, but I will ALWAYS express my opinions whether well recieved or not. I never post with the intent to offend or attack.
