  1. I have been having problems with a few disks as of lately, they turn out to not work in stand-alone DVD players. What is happening is that the *.dat file is being placed in the SEGMENT folder, not the MPEGAV folder. This is from buring the vcd using Roxio(Adaptec) Easy CD. Is anybody else having this problem? I gave up on making coasters with this program and I am using Nero now, and it tells you it has put it in the MPEGAV folder before you burn it. So, I will continue to use Nero from now on.

p.s. i have found no use for easy cd as of lately, nero does everything much better and with NO coasters.

Is there a point to this post ?

Easy Cd Creator 5 works 100%, never had any problems with it at all.

  3. lesdenjake,

Easy CD Creator thinks that your MPEGs are off-spec which means that they probably are.

As long as the important things are correct (framesize, framerate, audio specs, bitrate) you can usually fix anything that is wrong by remultiplexing your MPEG. TMPGEnc and bbMPEG should both work.

If you are using TMPGEnc to multiplex, make sure you have it set on MPEG-1 Video-CD rather than Auto.

    Regards.

  4. First off, is there a point for you being on this earth? I thought a forum was here so we can discuss, not riducule you jack ass. And if you have not had this problem, then why the hell are you replying you *******?

My MPEGS are standard MPEGS everyone downloads from alt.binaries.vcd. It did this for the movie the Skulls I donwloaded a few days ago. It has only done it a few times and I have used it for burning over 30 VCD's. It does not do it all the time, that is why I was posting a message.

I used the same mpeg file and the new Nero and it put it right in the MPEGAV folder.

Easy CD has only made a 1 coasters out of 30 VCD's I burned.

  5. When I us ez cd I have to make menus for it to work in my apex dvd player but my friends apex can play the vcds from ez cd with out the menus. I would say that nero is better anyway so just stick with nero.

Thank God I'm not the only person having this problem. I burned 3 VCD's with Easy CD-Creator, all the MPEG's had the same characteristics. One VCD had the .dat file in the MPEGAV directory and the other two placed the .dat file in the SEGMENT directory. All three were burned using the VCD Wizard.

  7. I have never gotten Easy Creator to burn VCD's correctly, I use NERO 5.5 never looked back to easy creator since.
When I tried using easy creator it always locked up my computer before it could finish the VCD.
I really have more complaints about easy creator VCD creator than good things about it.
I am sure your VCD must exactly compliant or it won't work make sure its.
    1150 bitrate, 352x240, 224mp3 16 bit stereo.
Nero is much more tollerant in burning VCD's outside these settings, my understanding is that VCD's burned outside these settings with easy creator they won't play back correctly or at all.

Well I opted to try Nero last night and it burned the mpeg just fine. One problem, the vcd is 60 minutes long but after 35 minutes on my stand-alone dvd player it just displays a black screen. With Roxio it would actually stop but with Nero it keeps on playing. Not sure if that is a media issue or what

  9. raceman3, i would say it is the media file that you are using. I have had no problems with Nero at all, BUT it also depends on your computer and how you keep it, also. I mean, if you never defrag and scandisk and never clean out your registry you are guaranteed to have problems anyways. But, I clean out my registry, run scandisk and defrag at least once a week, and I do occassionally get coasters from Nero. But, it is actually from my whole computer locking up, which could be anything. I have found no problems with the program itself and it anyone needs the Nero Key Generator to make it a registered copy, post a reply to here and list your e-mail to send it to, and I will e-mail it to you. I have successfully downloaded and burned well over 100 movie and tv shows, VCD's and SVCD's with no problems. Also, I find the Pioneer DV-333 to be a lot better player than the APEX 660. I feel the APEX is very shitty quality compared to my Pioneer.

What are you referring to by coasters, and why would it play fine for the first 35 minutes and then just deiplay a black screen

The reason I asked if there was a point to this, is because you had already stated you have stopped using Easy Cd Creator and was now using Nero "with no problems". So what was the point of posting a message telling people what you had already done to cure your problem.

However since you have to dish out insults just because someone asks a question, I really don't think there is any point in replying to people like you at all.

  12. COASTER=a cd that got messed up before it ended the burning process. once it completely burns through correctly, no problems after that. but, i refer to a coaster as my computer and app loveing it up before the burn was finished.
