Well , i've been having trouble with jerkiness on playback of a couple of movies ( dog soldiers + jackass).
both films are 23.976 fps.
SOLUTION:-
On page 2 of the project wizard in TMPEG change the bottom tab (CONTENT OF VIDEO) from VIDEO MOVIED to FILM MOVIE.
This setting is especially for movies which are 24 fps.
Only drawback is that an inversre telecine process is run before the main encoding, this can add up to an hour to the overall time.
SMALL PRICE TO PAY METHINKS .
I hope this works for you guys, it certainly did for me!!

Are you creating DVD's? Becase in VCD and SVCD in TMPEG 259.47.155 CONTENT OF VIDEO is shaded out.
