  1. Hello!

I have a problem with a movie. When I open the file in Virtual Dub and goes to File Information, the Audio Codec says Unknown(tag2000) and when I try to decompress it I canīt save it as WAV. Iīve got the AC3 Codec and the Nimo Codec pack but it doesnīt work anyway (my OS i XP).

I got the tip not to save it as WAV, but to just decompress and framserve it. When I try to open the vdr-file in Tmp_Genc that doesnīt work either.

Please, how can I Frameserve this movie from Virtual Dub to Tmp_Genc to convert it to an mpg with subs??

  2. First, Get RID of Nimo, nothing but a trouble maker Codec Pack! everywhere
I see people with problems, they got NIMO installed

Secondly, get GSpot v2.1, it will detect the exact codecs used by your file so
it will be easier for you to install JUST what you need.

  3. Hi again!

OK, Iīve installed G-spot and loaded the file, but G-spot says it cannot find a codec that will decompress the audio. Guess Iīm still stuck in the mud.

Does GSpot say "cannot find a codec that will decompress the audio" in your system, or doesn't GSpot understand what audio format it is at all?

  5. Hello!

    In exact words G-Spot says:

"G-Spot was unable to find an audio codec which will decompress this format."

    Any solution anyone?

As I said earlier under File Information in Virtual Dub it says the audio codec is Unknown(tag2000) in this file.

Sounds like GSpot can't understand what format the audio track is in then. Try "Audio: Direct Stream Copy" - "Save wav" in VDub. That will give you the audio track in a separate file. See if winamp can play it. If so, it ought to state what codec's used.

Nope, I'm out of ideas. If GSpot can't tell, and nothing manages to play the extracted file, then it must be some really rare find, or just simply corrupt. Pass it on to the bit bucket.

  9. OK, thanks anyway. Iīm sure that the file isnīt corrupted because I can play it in Mediaplayer, and it works fine there. I canīt convert it though. On second thoughts, if I can play the file in Mediaplayer, with audio, how come that the codec is unknown in both Virtual Dub and G-spot??

Btw, what is the bit bucket?

  10. I think I am right in saying that
    Unknown(tag2000)
in vdub means 2 channel AC3. You need the AC3 codec from the tools section to play it in WMP. Alternativley it should play in a recent version PowerDvd (4.0?).

If you want to convert this movie to mpeg there are several guides and lots of forum posts on how to handle Ac3.[/b]
