Have made a clean install of ffmpegX with last binaries (March 6).
But every time I'm trying to output a DVD-R I'm ending up with a VIDEO_TS file of 1.5 Go. The picture is, no need to say, a bit blurred.
I had the feeling it worked much better with older binaries. Does anyone have a link to dl them ?
Or a idea to help me out with this pb. cheers

Tks major. I did that. Brought down q quantizer from 3 to 1 and it's not changed a thing.
it's really weird. Much appcte if you have any other idea

There can be radically different file sizes encoding to MPEG-2 using the two different methods in ffmpegX: the mplayer option or quicktime option.
Just for giggles, you can rip an individual chapter, and encode it using the two methods. Set the video bitrate the same, and you'll see a big difference in the resulting file (mplayer will be MUCH smaller).
I'd like to know if there additional quality settings that can be tweaked under the mplayer setting. I've used this to encode subtitled movies. Although it handles the subtitles well, even at a high (9000) bitrate the movie is usually blockier than what I can get using mpeg2enc.
The quantizer settings seem to have no effect when using mplayer (I encoded a sample chapter using identical settings other than q=2 and q=15... the resulting files were the same size, and I saw now change in the code pasted into Terminal).
Are there other settings that can improve quality under mplayer, other than increased bitrate?
Mille grazie. -
Have tried evrything i.e. CBR and QTdecoder even a bitrate of 9000. Picture is still blurred. Am just desperate to understand what is going on. It's just like the .VOB file can't be changed but to a 1.5 Go VIDEO_TS file.
Below is what is read in the terminal window.
Tks for any help. cheers

A:KEEP FAITH -
it's just like if ffmpegXg chooses its own bitrate and refuses to change whatever the figure you set in the video tab.
Has tried with another .VOB. Have tried with ffmpegXe, in vain.
So any one has a link for old binaries which worked great ? tksKEEP FAITH
