  1. Disc is Bug's Life region 2 PAL, DVD-6 (anamorphic one side, PandS the other.

    Anyone had this happen?

Have searched and can't find anything on the forum about this disc and the other I'm having problems with - another DVD-6 PAL - Starship Troopers (stupid flipper version).

Tried Disco on Bug's Life, and it seems to have worked, but since all I'm trying to do with ST is to get it on DVD-R, disco won't help here.

    Thanx...

  2. Take a look at the folders on your source disk. Are there other files and folders in addition to the basic AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS?

OSeX sometimes has a hard time with "extra" files, such as DVD_ROM weblinks, JACKET_P folders, etc.

If this is the case, try creating those folders in your target drive (Under a folder called A_BUGS_LIFE or whatever, drag the folders from the DVD, or just create from scratch). If OSeX doesn't have to write these files itself, it generally has a higher success rate.

If this isn't the case with the disk you're working on, tell us what the error message says.

  3. Nothing in the root of the disc except VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS.

Things I've tried since - start OSEX before disc is inserted. As soon an the disc mounts, OSEX quits.

As far as error messages go - unless I should be looking somewhere else, all that happens is a window pops up telling me OSEX has unexpectedly quit and no other apps have been affected.

    ????????????

  4. Have you tried a couple of ripping options?:

-- whole movie as elementary streams (M2V and AC3)? As a VOB?

-- try DVDBackup (does it work on Pal? I don't know) just to see if you can correctly copy the disk folders.

-- always die at a particular chapter? Try ripping just that one. do other chapters work okay? I have a disk that plays fine on my set-top, but has some small scratch or flaw that prevents OSeX from copying off the data correctly.

  5. Can't try any options - OSEX quits immediately.

Have no options to do anything - the d**n thing dies...

That was going to be one of my next questions - are there any other OSX based rippers to try?

    Is DVDBackup native OSX?

    Ta again.....

You should play the disc first in either Apple DVD Player, or in VideoLAN, so the ripper software you choose will have access to the key. Keys on Disney DVDs seem notoriously hard to find for less hearty rippers.

  7. I have the same problem w/OSeX,It just quits whenever I load a movie ( any Movie ,so far)

I have also been unable to get the apple DVD player to play DVDs in OS x( used apple dvd player 2.7 for OS 9.2... and that works)

in OS X the only message I get is : OSeX application as unexpectedly quit....

I'm not sure about the computers in use here in this thread (some details are incomplete), but it sounds like you're trying to play a DVD on a non-combo drive computer. To get Apple DVD Player to work on a non-combo/non-super drive computer, you have to mount a DVD image (a small one will do), so as to fool Apple DVD Player into thinking there is an actual DVD drive available internally. Once you do that, all DVDs in external DVD-ROM/DVD-R drives will play flawlessly.

I do this on my G3 iMac all the time.

  9. Latest......

Played both discs in VLC and DVD 3.2 first - OSEX still quits straight away.

Both titles are DVD-6's and both are Buena Vista (Disney) - coincidence

I'm currently attacking Starship Troopers with DVDBackup and that seems to be progressing OK (at least it didn't quit)

Will need to rip the vobs into elemental streams after - hopefully Yade Carbon will do this as there won't be any CSS left......then will reduce with Minx and put both sides onto DVD-R......

All this so I don't have to get out of my seat halfway through

If anyone finds a way to get OSEX to work with either of these discs, please post as I'd still be very interested

  10. OK......

DVD Backup ripped the CSS out sucessfully, so put the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders in toast, made an .iso and mounted it - and guess what???

    OSEX STILL quits immediately

So it can't be a CSS key issue as DVD Backup removed it

Luckily, Yade carbon seems to have no problems with the mounted .iso

    So.....
