  1. Okay... I know ppl have talked about this all, but I have tried everything. I can make DVD's that play on my Sharp (damn old) standalone player, but nothing will work in my XBox. I know it is not the media because I am able to use the exact same DVD-RW for game backups. I have tried burning with Nero, PrimoDVD, Gear and DVD Decrypter. I am fairly confident that I am screwing up on some settings although I am almost sure I've tried every different setting. I do get the DVD to load on the XBox, but it just stays at a blank black screen. If anyone else has had this problem and has found a cure, please let me know. The Xbox is modded and the pots have not been tweaked. Thanks.

Apologies if I have misunderstood your post but my initial thoughts ...

'I know it is not the media because I am able to use the exact same DVD-RW for game backups. I have tried burning with Nero, PrimoDVD, Gear and DVD Decrypter.'

What do you mean by this ? - How can you be sure that it is not your media when you have never got it to work ? - If you mean that it works on DVD-RW but not on DVD-R then these are two different types of media ?

I haven't tried it yet (I'm modding my xbox soon) but from the research I've done - RecordNowMax seems to produce the most compatible ISO burns for the Xbox. The most reliable media 'seems' to be Ritek G03 (DARK purple dye) - such as Traxdata.

  3. it is actually the media, for my game backups i can use the cheepest of media and have no problems, if i then burn a dvd movie onto those cheep disks they wont play on the xbox, use higher grade media for ur movies,, say datasafe gen4, i have had no probs with them.

  4. I'm sorry for the confusion. I meant that I have burnt DVD-RW backups of GAMES that have worked. But the DVD-RW (same disc) DVD backups will not work. The screen just stays black.

Try Traxdata (imo the most reliable disk out there..) and RecordnowMax to burn.

  7. Try burning it with Nero and check the "Xbox compatability" checkbox (can't remember exactly what it's called). Something to do with the UDF version used I think...

    Hi,

Just my 2 pence worth but I had similar problems. I dont know how your creating your backups (movies) but I use Maestro the disk loads but just sits there at a blank screen.

~THEN I found that for some reason, Only some DVD players needed me to :

In Maestro, Select the project in the white box to the left where it says movie1 and then you get a connections dialog. There should be a row saying "first play" then to the right of it, right click and select movie1 then chapter 1

    Then it worked.
    Hope this helped
