Hello I would like to transfer my VCD collection to DVD, the episodes are about 400MB each but i'm not sure what programs to use to author them to DVD.

Any help in this matter would be welcome.

    Best Regards.

You have to re-encode them with CCE or TMPGEnc. Realistically the resolution and bitrate is too low to start with, that is the conversion won't look very good.

Once encoded, you need to 'Author' your DVD to get everything into the right format/folders then you burn.

From what I have read you don't need to convert the video at all, but you have to resample the audio to 48khz.

What I want to know is:

    1) How do you resample the audio to 48khz
    2) Then, how do you author the files to DVD

    Best Regards.

You can use several tools to convert the audio to 48 khz. For example can ulead moviefactory do everything
    www.dvdrhelp.com/vcddvdr

Or you can use toolame, tmpgenc or besweet and then import the video in any authoring tool.
www.dvdrhelp.com/vcddvdr (scroll down to the bottom for a how to use tmpgenc)

If the vcd film source is vcd ntsc film(23,976 fps) you have to reencode the video cause it is not supported by DVD.

For those interested in resampling audio but not spending any money, AVISynth 2.0 and newer has a filter called ResampleAudio() that can resample the audio OK. So if you don't want to spend any money I'd suggest this:

    1) Use TMPGEnc to split the audio off of the .mpg file, creating a .wav file.
    2) Use the following script (plugging in the proper file name of course) to resample the audio in your favorite application (VirtualDub? )
    -----
clip=WAVSource("plug in your .wav file's path here")
    return(ResampleAudio(clip,48000))
    -----
    3) Use TMPGEnc to remux the new audio with the video.

I haven't tried this but I thought it might work for someone.

  6. I actually did this the other day. I converted a VCD I had made of my sons first birthday to DVD. I simply copied the mpg off of the VCD and used it when I authored the DVD using Sonic MYDVD. The quality was as good as the original VCD. I let MyDVD do all the conversion.

    I hope this helps.
