I don't how selling something like this is legal but go here: www.Aspiredigital.com It's the new AD6000 model. ANY additional info on this model and the older DVD to SVCD AD8000 model you guys can provide, would be great.

  2. Not as great as it might sound. Heres why you might like to thin twice about spending $600 on it:

It wont record a Macrovision protected (eg 99.99999% comersial DVD's) source
It doesnt record to DVD-r (i could only find a VCD/SVCD model on this site)
you obviously dont get the editing controll you get with a pc method
you can buy a standalone dvdrecorder much cheaper!

correct me if you think any of this is wrong

The AD 8000 model is the vcd/svcd recorder. The AD 6000 model, which hasn't been released to the public yet, is the DVD-R recorder. It's located under Aspire's what's new listing. Yes, it seems to have macrovision, but doesn't PC based DVD recorders have it as well? There are ways around these things guys! The control issue is very accurate, from what I've read you can get much better control with PC based recorders.

when i click that "whats new" link all i get is the 6000 .. and they pulled thier press release on this model .. so i checked google

    http://216.239.51.100/search?q=cache:OdSRcNSRe_0C:www.aspiredigital.com/release1.html+aspire+ad-6000+vcd+recorder&hl=en&lr=lang_en|lang_fr&ie=UTF-8

and it says there that the "new ASPIRE DIGITAL'S AD-8000" model records onto cd-r only ... which makes it a vcd (or maybe svcd) recorder

The AD 6000 is VERY new. THE AD8000 has just been released to the public a short while ago. I'm sure info will turn up on the AD6000. A press release on it should be forthcoming.

It seems that google press release has the models mixed up. Aspire's site lists the AD6000 as the DVD player/ recorder. The AD8000 as the DVD player vcd recorder.
