Supermedia.com is selling some house brand DVD-R's at a reasonable price.
Anyone have any experience with these DVDR's? I have ordered the Ritek's from them in the past and had no problems, but at $37 for 50 of the house brand I thought it may be worth a shot.

VonTed,
Do not guy supermedia dvd-r. they don't work.
I thought it was cheap, too, bought 25-pack cakebox, only 1 worked. about 3/4 of them have write errors, 1/4 burnt til 100% but cannot write lead out. By the way, i burned them on sony dru500 using nero and recordnow max.
Good luck,

here is my 2 cents worth. I bought a 50 pack about a week ago from supermedia.com. I have burned about 15 of them with no issues. I have burned from images in dvdecrypter, nero, and moviefactory 2 with no problems at all. They play in my apex 1100W, my neighbors panasonice something or other, and co workers jvc and a few other different ones. I had been buying the kypermedia's from office max (10 for $20) and I burned quite a few with no problem and then I did about 6 coasters, repeatedly.
You are going to find people that swear by a particular brand, ones that go cheapest and have never had a problem, and those that can do a particular type. BTW I have the repackaged pioneer (cyndine 4X A05) DVR-105.
I plan on buying more from them when I get low. ps. I am burning the 4.37 limit on them also. Some people report that their dvd media (not supermedia in particular) sometimes goes bad after 3 gig or so. -
Yuck. Easy to scratch.
Buy Princo 1x/2x/4x. Or spend real money and get a branded disc like Apple or Verbatim. -
I have now over 200 DVD's I have backed up and not one has ever been scratched but then my kids are gone and I won't let the cats play with my DVD's.
What is this coating you're talking about? Is the coating on the active area? If so it must be hard to see. -
I've been using Emtech from http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/category_slc.asp?Id=020301
25 for 26bucks. I never had a coster and the play on my POS Oritron Stand Alone as well a my old LG 12xDVDRom I put in Dad's Machine when I got my burner. I swear by these. I got the Panasonic LF-D321 DVD-RAM/R which is spossed to be very picky about media and hate generic, but these burn like a champ whether you burn 4.3gig or 4.3Meg.
Just my 2cents

Well my order is in and should arrive this week. I'll update with my success rate when I can.
As a note I am using the Cendyne 105 drive, and have had no problems so far using el-cheapo Ritek's. So my hopes are that I'll have no problems.
