  1. Im using a cendyne 4x burner and have being using the 4x ritek blank dvds. It takes me about 30-35 mins to burn a single disk. However my neighbor has the same drive and uses the same media and only takes 15-20 mins to burn. I dont understand why this is. At first i thought it was my computer, being a pIII 600mhz but I built a new computer two days ago, a P4 2.4ghz running on win2000 pro. and it is still taking me 30-35 mins to burn 4 gig of data. I use dvd x copy as well as nero. Can anyone give me some explaination on why this is happening....

  2. Normal burn time for a full disc at 4x is about 16 to 17 minutes. I think your burner is running at 2x. Maybe you need to do a firmware update to get the drive to burn at 4x.

  4. Did you check to make sure that you have "DMA if available" enabled instead of "PIO Only"? Look in -> Device Manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> Primary (or Secondary) IDE Channel -> Advanced Settings.

  5. Nero's speed display doesn't work. It just shows what you tell it. There's a line in the registry you can change to get it to show the 'real time' burning speed (do a forum search I don't use/like nero so I don't know it off hand).

You might want to try to burn with DVD Decrypter, as I know that shows the real burning speed as it progresses. But it sounds like you are burning at 2x, not 4x speed.
