for some reason video I capture from my cable to VC card has hiss on the audio. Is there some way to filter this from
the vcd I burn. I'm using nero 5.5 and have access to DV editing software.

Sounds like the gain is turned down way to low on the recording line. Go into your sound mixer and find the control for whatever line you are using (line/mic etc.) and turn it up. You will have to check under the record properties.

You can repair existing captures with a sound editing program like CoolEdit. Demux the video, convert the .mp2 to .wav, edit, convert back and mux. But I agree, it's easier to fix it at the source too.
