  1. I have search the entire forums and tried all the methods and turned out without any sucess. TMPGEnc showed the file is unsupported, VB 1.3c said unknown format WMV1, tried to use asftool to reencode but it required a license to do that. On AviSynth it showed me "error code 0x00d0bbe".

Seems that it's impossible to do the conversion, period. Any suggestion?

I think that older versions of VirtualDub can open ASF files. Take a look under CONVERT and search the guides for ASF.

  3. VirtualDub can't open WMV8 video files afaik, due to the Digital Right Management from Microsoft. The guides that you're refering will work for earlier asf, but not for my case.

You just have to love those guys at MS, don't you agree?
BTW, Have you tried with VDub 1.3C? From one of the guides:
if your source is ASF use Virtualdub1.3c

  5. Well, if they didn't inplement any protection then I'll love them 4ever.

I'm using VD 1.3c, but whenever I tried to open it, it showed me a message "couldn't locate decompressor for format WMV1(unknown)". Anyway, I have installed Windows Media Player Codecs 8.0 and Windows Media Encoder 9 and wonder it'll cause any problem here.
